Have any of you have experienced the same type of conversations I have? It usually starts when someone either over hears me talking about WoW or just generally finds out I play computer games. Then they ask something like, what's that or what game do you play, etc. After which they proceed to tell me about their console games, their kid's console games, give me a speach about how they don't play games, or get that glazed over look like I just switched languages on them and they have no idea what I just said.
The common theme to all their responses is that they have no idea that this is as much a community, or social gathering, as it is a game. Thus, I have learned to tailor my response in that direction. I explain that its a game where you and friends work towards goals collectively. Its an environment where you adventure while meeting exciting people around the world and developing relationships that wouldn't be possible without the use of the internet. I then go on to talk about the wide diversity of people I've met.
I realized, in experiencing another one of these conversations recently, that I only use a few examples. In other words, I don't know much about many of you. I would like to know a little more. I spend a fare amount of my time each week with all of you in some capacity or another. I should know more about the real you.
This is a request to please share with us what is your occupation in the real world. If you're a student, then where and what are you studying? Stay at home mom (on of the best occupations in the world), then tell us how many kids, and how old. Don't share any more details than your comfortable sharing, but a little something to give us a picture of what your life might be like outside our wonderland interface.
I'll start. I'm currently a project manager for a large communications company. Sales teams sell voice, data or internet services to companies, and then hand that off to me, and I make sure the customer gets what they ordered. Most of the companies I deal with have multiple locations around the country, and possibly internationally. Most of the projects I work on take anywhere from 30 days to 6 months. I have recieved 13 awards for my work, internally, since I started working at this position. Previously, I worked for Intel at a research facility in fixing hardware issues on computers and servers.

I currently work as a salesmen for Valley Filtration. We deal in air filtration systems and deep cleaning units for Health-Mor Industries and Filter Queen. I currently live with 5 roomates. My younger brother, Vistania and his son, and, Nailo and her husband. My family and friends are what really drives me and I am lucky to have so many people I care for that not only live with me but near me. Sedine and Soetsu live prolly 15 min away from me. My mother lives with them. Needless to say I am over there fairly often. Besides WoW I enjoy tabletop roleplaying games and if I had to pick one thing I enjoy thats "normal" it would be movies. I am at the theater at least once a month if not more. I enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy movies as well as action and horror flicks. Ask anyone who knows me I have a love for terrible B movies such as poultrygeist and things like the blob.

Odd assortment of jobs. Trained as a mechanic, work as a farmer, have been a veternarian assistant, factory worker, worked in processing plant, and am currently a starting business owner. Love to learn new things that I have a interest in, last winter I learned how to cook several of my favorite and households fav dishes. Lol I built my deck next to my house, I think I had built a dog house before that. Long ago I met Hammen and Vista, they intoduced me to the world of gaming, in other words corrupted me. Now Im a counrty person who plays DnD wow and actully knows what a mmorpg is. Enjoy watching horror and scifi and fantasy movies, do not like ckick flicks, figure if I want to cry I'll smash a finger with a hammer... Music lol pretty much any thing but pop and rap, last nite I was listing to celtic instramentals. I read a ton of books, sci fi mostly some history, can ask anyone who has seen my comp area, I have a "few" books. If I could have cable tv and have whatever channels, I would have all the history channels, sci fi whatever channel has myth busters, and cartoons, yeah im over 12 but I love cartoons, why depress myself watching the news when I can laugh and watch cartoons? I'll read the news later online anyway. Soe lives out here with me and so does Hammens mom with me on one of the family farms, we have black angus steaks err um cattle here. Also crop land corn and beans, this spring will alos have my crops here. In general I see more of Hammens family than i do my own extended. Hammens mom Btw is a awesome cookie maker and cook. What drives me, would be the need and desire to be my own person and to prove beyond any shadow I can be and I can do.

I live with Sedine outside of Garrison, Iowa. Moved up here about 2 years ago after I had to drop out of Spartan Aeronautics (I was training to be a pilot) due to money issues. As of today Im unemployed again, but hopeing to get that sorted out shortly. I worked for Valley Filtration as well, selling indoor air quality systems. I worked for a Walgreens convience store through high school and college. Malben, Breunar and I are all friends from high school, we went to J.P. Taravella in Coral Springs, Florida. Hammen, Vistania, Kalwrath and Nailo are all good friends and good people. I got to meet Adorna once, shes a good lady. Im quick to anger and slow to figure things out. I enjoy tabletop games, in particular strategy based board games/pen and paper scenarios. I hardly watch movies, tho I prefer something that would fall into the sci-fi slot when I do, fantasy movies being a hard second. I love listening to Metal and rock, I cant stand country for more then an hour or so. Obviously, I enjoy spending most of my time in-game, and that time is always best with a few guildies tackleing something big and mean. I come from a big family, my folks still live in Coral Springs, but we used to live in southern New Jersey, where I was born and raised. Most of my extended family is up there, tho I have cousins all over and a few overseas.

jeez im so old its hard to start. I got a good 2/3 of the way through a civil engineering degree, then i got married. Moved to Nova Scotia Canada from Alabama. I've played Warhammer (table top) both Fantasy and 40K ... got about 6 armies. I got a couple provinical and regional titles in Magic the Gathering ccg. I met my wife playing on the mmorpg predicesor...MUDs. I started playing morpgs with City of Heros because my brother was orignally playing that game with buddies. I bought WoW and joined the guild when he was playing here. Although i never finished my engineering degree, i did go to community college here in NS and took a program sponsered by a local construction company and now i work for them. I am technically a Project Coordinator, but in reality im everything from labourer to foreman as well.

I'm a software engineer. My work is telling computers what to do, and then I come home and play games with them. My brothers corrupted me (i.e., introduced me to MMORPGs) many years ago.

Well you already know from reading previous posts that I live with Hammen and Nailo and live close to Sedine and Soetsu. I have been freinds with Hammen ever since I can remember. Bad memory but mom has pictures of us running around in diapers. I currently work for Adidas/Reebok 3rd shift as a division captain which is basically a overpayed glorified screen printer. I have 3 kids 2 boys ages 8 and 6 and a lil girl age 2. My oldest boy lives with me while the other two I see almost every day. Currently single so feel free to hit me up ladies! lol I play Magic and enjoy playing table top games but havent in quiet awhile. The usual reaction I get when I tell ppl I play WoW lets me know all they know about playing WoW they learned by watching South Park... Thanks Matt and Tre.

Lets see... First Id like to deny that I know those crazy people that said they live with me. lol Nah, we do have a house FULL of people. Most of us have the same interests though so its works out pretty good. I babysit vists kids pretty much everyday now. Lots of fun but a lot harder than it should be. lol Kids are a handful... My passion however is Graphic Design and I fully intend on putting it to use at some point to make the bestest mmo EVA lol I've been married 4 years now, and with him for nearly 6. My husband also plays wow but is no longer in the guild, Kilinin is his main...ish he really has no main that just the one hes gotten the highest. lol I met my husband online when we were teenagers and spoke to him for years off and on, finally one thing led to another and he moved to Ohio from his hometown in Connecticut. We've moved around alot trying to find our place in this crazy world but we've been in Iowa with Hammy for 3 yrs. o.O Im surprized hammy isnt tired of us yet. As everyone else mentioned I know Hammy, Vist, Sedine, and Soet and have for awhile now. Good people, lots of fun. ^,^ _Familiar Quotes_ Hammy- "You didnt ask" Vist- "Telethapy" Sedine- "Steaks!" Soet- "I have a plan!" Mmos Ive played: FFXI, Guild Wars (Guild leader), City of Villains, WOW (lead a guild), EQ2, and random assortment of free to plays. Other games: I also play D&D 2nd and 3.5 edition and Magic the gathering TCG Been playing for years now, introduced by my hubby to the wonderfully nerdy world of gaming. ..and you guys are crazy if I say I play mmos I tend to get the, REALLLY?! reaction. lol

It was fun reading about everyone else, so I guess I'll tell you a little about myself. I grew up in South Florida (a total beach bum), lived in Japan, Switzerland and Greece. I spent a lot of time traveling (for fun) during my 20's and my record so far is 19 countries in 1 year. I worked in television while overseas, and have done freelance writing for fashion magazines, worked as a freelance photojournalist for a while, worked in retail while in college and even worked part time in a hair salon for a year or two. My husband is Greek, but grew up in South Africa and we met while living in Switzerland. He is an editor for tv, video and film and works in NYC. I have been trying to get him to play WoW, but he likes first person shooters and plays with a group of buddies from work. I am currently not working since my son is in his last year of high school and I'd like to spend time with him before he is off to college. I actually started playing WoW as a way to hang out with my son (Troven, for those of you that know him) and this was the only thing I could think of that would be fun to do with my 17 year old without cramping his style. This is my first time playing anything like WoW and it's tough being clueless, but I'm having a lot of fun. My friends all think I'm crazy and want to have a WoW intervention- lol. My new favorite gadget is my kindle - I love to read. I still like to travel, but it's difficult with a kid in school. He will be 18 in a couple of months, but he's way too wild to leave on his own- yikes! I can just see the parties at my house..... My husband and I have just bought a condo on the beach in South Florida (a lot of my family is still there), so I will be spending time on the beach as much as possible. We also have a place in Greece, but it's tough to find the time to go there.

My real name is Nick, I work swing shift at the post office. I have been at the post office for the last four years and before that I worked for Micron Technology. I grew up in Boise, Idaho and now live about 25 miles west of there in Caldwell, Idaho with Sggi and a bunch of disgusting pets. I have played; Dark Ages of Camelot, FFXI, City of Heroes, Everquest 2 and WoW. I have played and quit all of those games at least twice. Sggi and I picked WoW back up about a year and a half ago and that is the longest I have ever stuck with a game. I also enjoy playing tabletop RPGs like DnD and whitewolf games. I currently am playing DnD 4.0 every Friday night with several friends including: Sggi, Ungeheuer and Gorgonhelm (Sggi is our DM). We have been playing the same game for over a year now. In my spare time I like to read. I will read almost any genre, my favorite is non-fiction history but I am currently reading the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice and I recently finished the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I watch a few TV shows although not on TV. I download the shows I enjoy and watch them on my laptop while I'm playing WoW. I don't know what else there is to me, if you're curious just ask!

I currently work at Micron Technology, a semiconductor manufacturer, out here in Idaho. I run a DnD game on Fridays with a group of friends (who are slowly making their way to our server), we've previously played White Wolf and others but DnD is my favorite. I'm horrible at playing video games and the only games i ever succeed at tend to be role playing games. It took many years of playing mmos to ever get a character to the max level, and now i have four. When I tire of wow i surf the internet; watch Youtube, read Penny Arcade, wow tactics tips and guides, new DND content, facebook, etc..
I like to read but dont do it enough, just finished the Dark Tower series by Stephen King and am not sure which book ill be picking up next. As far as television goes i have watched the last couple seasons of American Idol, love 30 Rock and The Office, and am enjoying every second of Glee. I do everything i can to avoid watching Seutonius' movies and shows about history, war, and the mafia.
My favorite kind of food is Italian, though Asian (Thai, Mongolian, Chinese, yummmm) takes a close second. I still wear a lot of the same clothes i wore in High School (maybe even middle school), i wear a lot of Tshirts and hate jeans. I'm a fantastic Cribbage player, and horrible at Chess. I love to sing, and do so whenever everyone in my audience has four legs.

For right now, I'm work at a test-grading facility for McGraw Hill (textbook company). I grade the written portions of S.A.T.s and high school exams to determine if kids pass or fail. Not on WoW much because I'm looking for a job that pays better.
J (my husband) and I just moved into a big apartment so their is much box shuffling but general happiness. ^^ We don't have any kids, but we do have a zoo: cat, three ferrets, guinea pig, canary, two sharks and a huge catfish. He and I are still big kids ourselves and we love watching cartoons and reading comics together.
In my spare time I hike around the reservoir...chasing the wild turkeys, game, do jigsaw puzzles, read tons of books...mostly fantasy, make hemp necklaces and dreamcatchers for a small bit of profit, and have what my friends have lovingly deemed 'The Black Hole'. Basically our home is a safehaven and friends arrive and leave at random...some staying for hours, others for weeks.
I've met Sedine, Dakij, Grim and Haat in real life. All very cool people. Eventually I'd like to set up a guildie get-together but really don't have the resources at the moment.

My name is Waylon. I am married and have a beautiful 5 yr old daughter. I live in Boise, Idaho, near Seutonius, Sggi, Gorgonhelm and Claesiah. We all went through school together. After high school I joined the Marines for 5 years and became a mechanic on CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters. In 2004 I went to Afghanistan and the following year I went to Iraq.
After Iraq I decided not to re-enlist and have worked various jobs since, including correctional officer, postal worker and security guard at the state capitol building. Currently I am in my 3rd year of college at Boise State working toward being a high school history and social studies teacher.
As far as RPGs go, I have limited myself to WoW and DnD 4.0, which we play every Friday.

I'm blushing now from reading what Pap wrote, but all I can say is thank heavens he wears those rose colored glasses when he looks at me. I have been a nurse for over 20 years in a variety of areas ranging from general medical, to cardiac research, to neonatal intensive care, to my current area, inpatient psychiatric care. I have always loved to read books and I can't see that ever changing. I read sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, and I will admit it...even some romance. Really love it when all those things are all mashed together into one book. I used to bake wedding cakes and had a fairly brisk word-of-mouth business doing that, but haven't restarted it up since moving to Ohio with Pap. Too busy with family and WoW I guess. I love watching Food network programs and all those home improvement shows on TV. Before I met Pap, I used my computer generally for playing such exciting games as solitaire and minesweep, and only played internet games from pogo. Basically, I was completely clueless about on-line gaming and didn't even know it existed. I married Pap and his 4 kids a little over 7 years ago. The oldest has since moved out, but we added our own little murloc who just turned 6. (I can't believe how quickly time flies!) Pap and the kids all played Diablo together, and I had absolutely no interest, but he drug me kicking and screaming into playing it, and I loved it!!! In fact, once Pap started playing WoW, I refused to leave my Diablo and continued playing it for several months on my own before he drug me kicking and screaming yet again into WoW. (hmm I sense a pattern here...lol) Actually, I think WoW is the best game I have ever played, and it isn't because of the game itself being that much better than any other game, it is because of the people I've met and the friendships I have made, with all you wonderful, crazy, fun, and just absolutely terrific people! Really, no wading boots necessary, I mean it!!

Unsure if Dallin really needs to know anymore about me than he already does! As most of you know Dallin is my older brother; we have one other brother who is the oldest that is not interested in playing on-line games:(
I graduated from college with two separate degrees one in Chemistry (make the drugs) and the other in Business (sell the drugs) LOL. From college I moved into sales and then a year later moved into management. I was a sales manager for the next 10 years (Industrial, Telecomm and Marketing) until I moved into a Director position for......SALES! Then I lost my job a year ago and have been having a difficult time of it lately finding a quality position.
I have three kids....odd thing is I am the youngest of three brothers but have the oldest kids. My kids are 9, 7, and almost 5....boy, girl, boy. My wife is wonderful and we spend a lot of time with the kids and traveling between church, school and sports events.
As Hobbies go: I play WOW, I read fantasy fiction books (over 300 hardbacks covering the walls of my office), I play volleyball, basketball, and attempt to stay in shape. I love music and have a huge collection of artists everything from Hard Rock/Metal to Dance, Pop, and Oldies.

Greetings!! Hmm, I think many of you know pleanty about me from the past... um 4 years.. or have heard me going on about some animal from the shelter where I was working enough to know I love animals. I grew up in Northern Va, went to Northern Va Community College and graduated with my Associates in Applied Science.. all that to do Illustration which was what I concentrated on. I am an Artist at heart. I love creating things out of clay, drawing, working with plants and animals. I currently own 2 dogs. I am also currently caring for 2 cats of my daughters, one Rex rabbit, the rat my middle daughter owns. All from.. you guessed it, the Animal shelter where I worked the past 5 years.
I met my X-husband in my last semester of College and we got married a short year and 3 months after our first meeting in class. We had 3 lovely daughters in 4 years and lived basically on the poverty level for 10 years. He introduced me to the wild world of gaming. Between him and my girls who also started playing the first game he brought into the house.. EQ.. I finally started one toon which I played about once a month for 3 months. Then I began to pick up the pace. I found a whole realm of people I could interact with from right there at home. Which was good because I really couldn't do much outside the home. I was a stay at home mom, but always had some sort of part time work going on to help keep up with bills. I home schooled all of our girls and babysat a lot as well. The Good Lord saw us through in those really rough times. In the home school group we were in people passed around clothes that were not needed or unused so I never had to really buy anything for the kids. A few Christmas weeks we had surprise boxes on our porch from someone who knew the girls sizes and got them some nice things for Christmas. My family of course did help there as well and we really wern't in too much need, just didn't have extra stuff.
Almost 3 years ago now I met some new people on Wow. Really fun folks to run around with and do quests. Some of them I told my unhappy recent story to about the controlling, jealous, angry man I married and how we *the girls and myself* were suffering from it. I really don't want to go into too much detail, so will make it short. Something happened that made it abundantly clear to me that I should not be staying with that man any more. It was detrimental to all of us. Jericoh was around and I spoke with him a lot about the financial issues and anger things that were going on. Then I met Tulosa. Azura was running around with him in the wee morning hours and he and I started questing with her a lot. I evenutally told him what was going on and he was very concerned. To make a long story short he stuck with me through all of the very unpleasant times and now I have been separtated for 2 years and feel so much better emotionally and mentally.
I moved to WV and am currently working at Ruby Memorial Hospital as a house keeper. Trying to get some work as a Phelbotomist. I would really like working with animals again, but maybe that time in my life is done. I don't need more foster pets etc. One of my girls will be moving out to Mo where her boyfriend and parents are to be married in 2 years after he finishes college. He is a sweetie! His parents are great so I say go for it! hehe. The other 2 were with me a bit up here, but couldn't get work so had to move to the Chesapeake Bay where my parents are and the extra house they have. I will miss them here but they are almost 19 and 22 years old and need to be on their own, in a sort of cushioned way.
My life was my kids and it is now time to move on to a better more enjoyable future. Tulosa/Istanobar needed a place to rent so he is renting a room from me in the place I rented. I don't have the greatest Landlord but the house is big enough and allows all my pets so I am happy for now.
Blessings to you all!

Siskoh and myself live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. We got married almost 1 year ago but have been together for over 6 years now. We have been playing wow since it came out. At the time i got so angry at him for playing it all the time that he eventually convinced me to play it for just 1 hour and i have been hooked ever since! That doesnt seem like too long ago, but if i type /played anyone would know better!! This is my very first computer game i've ever played (aside from spider solitaire or majong), so using the keyboard to move around still bugs me..im a mouse clicker all the way. Siskoh is much more pro and can dance circles around me in PVP. Im much more of the social type of player and like to interact with others, whereas he's more about strategy and gameplay.
I am 29 yrs old (gasp almost 30) and work as a staffing manager for a recruitment firm. Today was my last day before mat leave so i guess i should say i "worked" there. I have a glorious year off now!! This is our first child (a baby girl) who is due any day now, but we have an adorable husky dog named Bender thats just a little over 3 now who's a handful in itself. We live in a house here and rent out the basement to siskoh's two best friends (one of them is Sharyyn)
